INTEGRATING EXTREME FAST CHARGE CAPABILITY IN THE EVS OF TOMORROW, TODAY
Long charging times and sustainability concerns are major hurdles to overcome in the widespread global adoption of EVs. Giving drivers on the road the ability to recharge their vehicles in minutes, rather than hours, while continuously working to lower the environmental impact of BEVs, will be a significant value proposition for any OEM – one that would potentially have a hugely positive impact on sales.
Polestar’s advanced engineering initiative together with StoreDot is the next step for the Swedish Electric performance car brand to address these barriers into EV ownership through innovative technology. StoreDot’s ‘100in5’ extreme fast charging (XFC) battery technology can be integrated into cell manufacturing facilities available today and integrated in current EV battery packs. As part of the ongoing development project, the two companies plan to demonstrate StoreDot’s XFC technology at full-scale in a Polestar 5 prototype vehicle in 2024.
